$3,000.00 Gardiner Area High School Scholarship

The Chase Hayward Fossett Scholarship Fund is accepting applications for the 2024 scholarship. Chase Hayward Fossett graduated from Gardiner Area High School in 2020 and exhibited the following characteristics: kind, humble, selfless, hardworking, athletic, loyal, positive with a contagious smile, love for the outdoors, and lastly, an entrepreneurial spirit. Entrepreneurial spirit is a mindset. It’s an attitude and an approach to thinking that actively seeks out change rather than waiting to adapt to change. It’s a mindset that embraces critical questioning, innovation, service, and continuous improvement.

 

The Chase Hayward Fossett Scholarship will recognize one student who is pursuing a post-secondary education and meets the following criteria:

Scholarship Criteria

  • Must be a graduate of the 2024 Class of Gardiner Area High School
  • Must be pursuing a post-secondary education after high school (such as a 2 year college, 4 year college, trade, or technical school)
  • Not dependent on grades/GPA
  • Involved in school activities including but not limited to sports, clubs, and/or community organizations
  • Respected by peers and teachers
  • Exhibits an entrepreneurial spirit
  • The Applicant is to submit an essay that answers the question, “How did you develop an entrepreneurial spirit and how do you plan to use it in the future?”
  • Please also include the following in either the essay or in a cover letter format:
    • Identify which school you plan to attend
    • Identify your cumulative GPA (no certain GPA is required)
    • Give an example of how you are respected by your peers and teachers
    • If applicable, identify which sports, clubs, and/or community organizations you participated in
    • If applicable, identify your love for the outdoors

Please submit the essay and/or cover letter to Mrs. Clukey in the Gardiner Area High School Guidance Office by May 1st, 2024 by 2pm.

Scholarship Amount

One student will be awarded a onetime scholarship amount of $3,000 payable to the post-secondary institution.
